DIY Makeup Brush Cleaner

What You Will Need:

-Olive Oil (optional)
-Baby Shampoo
-Paper Towel or Clean Towel

Wet brushes hairs under warm water, making sure not to get too much water into the ferrule or the glue will loosen causing brush hairs to shred and handle to fall out.
For extra deep cleansing and nourishment, rub olive oil on brush bristles making sure it penetrates well and rinse brush.
Apply a pea size amount of baby shampoo to the palm of your hand and swirl the wet brush bristles and rinse off. If necessary, repeat shampooing to clean brushes that are still dirty. Squeeze out as much water as possible from bristles. If water is clear, your brushes have been thoroughly cleaned!
Lay brushes on a towel at an angel so water does not penetrate inside the ferrule (as shown in the picture below).

Depending on the brush size, it can take anywhere from 6 to 10 hours for brushes to dry. I usually tend to wash brushes at night before going to sleep to make sure brushes are dry and ready to use in the morning.
Deep cleansing of brushes is necessary at least 2 to 3 times a month. Foundation brushes or sponges should be cleansed once a week to prevent your skin from being irritated and breaking out.
